Bongnaesan Mountain is located at the center of Yeongdo. The name means the mountain where Chinese Phoenix fly. It is said that hermits lived here in the old days.

The scenery of nearby area including Taejongdae and the surrounding sea is picturesque. At the summit, the whole area of downtown Busan including Jung-gu, Seo-gu, Dong-gu, Saha-gu, Busanjin-gu, and Haeundae-gu is visible. It is one of the triangle points for land survey in Korea.

The whole mountain is cone-shaped and its slopes are steep. As the southern slope is very steep, it gives you the dizzy feeling of falling into the sea. When you look at the horizon, you will be able to see Tsushima Island vividly.
