This monument was built by 33 surviving guerrilla soldiers, who fought in the Korea War, to memorialize the sacrifice of their comrades.

It was completed on June 22, 1984 on the slope next to Taejongsa.

The Yeongdo guerrilla soldier unit was organized by Major Han Cheol-min with 1200 anti-communists from 3 northern provinces of Hamgyeongnam-do, Hamgyeongbuk-do and Gangwon-do.
