Ritual (Dongsam-dong Byeolsin Exorcism)

From ancient times, the Byeolsin-gut (exorcism) was held at the Dongsam-dong shore of an inlet between the Lunar 1st and 5th of March.

Nowadays, it is called the Good Catch Rite or the Dragon King Rite. It is hosted by the Dongsam-dong Fishery Group organized by 300 village fishermen.

A famous shaman is invited for the rite by the head of the group. And all villagers including fishermen and their wives participate in it.

It is a village festival in which everybody participates and Yeongdo-gu Office is supporting the rite to preserve the traditional culture.
