Dongsam-dong Moon-viewing Festival on the night of the first full moon of the lunar year

Dongsam-dong Moon-viewing Festivalon the night of the first full moon of the lunar year began by burning small moon house from Jungri Beach by Saemaeul Group of Dongsam 1-dong in 1999 to hope for harmony and wellbeing of the village and residents and improve love for home by recreating traditional plays and cultures gradually being forgotten in the era of highly advanced information-industrialized society. The festival is expanded and developed further by forming Festival Promotion Committee participated by relevant organizations in Dongsam 1-dong.

The highlight of this festival is the huge sized moon house (height 15m, circumference 32m). The moon house is started being prepared one month prior to the festival and created with sincerity by overcoming difficulties such as cold winter and cold wind. The sight of burning the moon house on the day of festival gathered by numerous spectators is a sight to watch, and it is believed that the moon house is the sign of luck granting all the wishes and hopes of those participating in the festival.

There are many attractions and opportunities to participate in traditional games for participants and this is a typical festival on the night of the first full moon of the lunar year with over 30,000 tourists every year.
